Jury deliberating in Hasson trial

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Jury deliberation began just before lunchtime Wednesday in trial of the 56-year-old Michael Lee Hasson.
Hasson is facing sex crime charges involving more than 20 patients.
After a couple of hours of deliberations, the jury asked for pictures of the alleged victims. After the judge discussed with both sides, it was decided the jury could see the medical record photos in the jury room.
An hour later, the jury requested to see video and/or audio and transcripts of two of the alleged victim’s testimonies.
Both the defense and the prosecution discussed the request with the judge. It was brought to the judge’s attention that there was no video or audio evidence submitted for the one victim. For the second victim, audio evidence was already presented.
The judge reminded the jury that it was their duty to remember the evidence presented, and that no written transcripts will be requested and reviewed. However, the audio evidence will be republished in court Thursday for the jury to review.
Deliberations will resume at 9am Thursday.
