Kevin Keatts wants his Seahawk team to be loose heading into CAA Tournament

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — “I am most excited about the guys taking advantage of their great opportunity.” That’s what UNCW head basketball coach Kevin Keatts told WWAY on Wednesday afternoon before practice.

The opportunity is plain and simple. Win on Saturday in order to play Sunday. Win on Sunday to get into the CAA championship on Monday. Win that one and you’re in the NCAA Tournament later this month.

“We want to go into the weekend as loose as we can, we want to have as much fun as we can,” Keatts said. “We have done this all year long. We’ll take it one game at a time. Our focus is to work on ourself.

Newcomer Seahawk Chris Flemmings has a good chance at being named first team All-CAA. This time last year he was nowhere close to Baltimore though.

“This time last year I was at home watching the games,” Flemmings said. “I wish I could have been there as far as attendance and playing. This year I want to be able to help do what it takes to win.”
