Key witness testifies in murder trial of three-year-old boy

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Montey Murray is on trial for first degree murder in the death of Jaronn McAllister, 3. Jessie Holt was one of the two men inside the apartment when something happened to Jaronn that led to his death.

In court Wednesday, Holt testified he was probably one of the last people to see the boy alive and well. He says Murray was in the bedroom. He was in the living room with Jaronn on February 29, 2012. Jaronn died at an area hospital the next morning.

In the video shown in court Holt says he does not know what happened to Jaronn.

“He tried to go to sleep and then he got up, and he laid on the floor. He laid on the floor for about ten minutes. He got up and went to the bedroom. And that’s the last time I had seen the child,” Holt said.

Holt says he then fell asleep on the couch.

Holt was questioned by James Payne, Murray’s attorney, about his statements to detectives.

Holt testified he does have blackouts and takes medication, but did not say anything about being involved in Jaronn’s death.
