Kure Beach ball drop brings in thousands

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Thousands of people made their way to Pleasure Island on New Year’s Eve to ring in the New Year with the Island of Lights ball drop.

As the clock struck midnight, fireworks lit up the sky to welcome in 2017.

There was dancing, loud cheers and, of course, the traditional holiday kisses.

Folks at the celebration said they will remember the year that passed by the election, Harambe among other lasting memories.

They also had some New Year’s resolutions to share including laughing everyday, making everyone happy and love where they live.

As the fireworks boomed over the ocean, it was safe to say that 2017 started off with a bang.
