Kure Beach paving work pushed to October
KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Work to repave part of US 421 in Kure Beach has been delayed.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has rescheduled intermittent lane closures on US 421 (Fort Fisher Blvd) from East Avenue in Kure Beach beginning Monday October 5, 2015 through Saturday November 21, 2015 from 9:00am to 7:00pm each day, weather permitting. According to the Town of Kure Beach, this is due to changes in the schedule of jobs for the contractor.
The DOT says motorists will be directed by a flagger and portable message signs, with one lane remaining open at all times. The closure is necessary for crews to resurface and pave the existing road. Once completed, the DOT says it will improve the rideability and increase visibility of the traffic markings on the roadway.
