Kure Beach Town Council wants more money for beach renourishment

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Kure Beach’s Town Council wants New Hanover County to give them a six-month extension on a beach renourishment agreement that expires next month.

Mayor Dean Lambeth says Kure Beach  especially needs the county’s help because it has the biggest beach and smallest tax base.

Right now,the federal government pays 65%. And the state and towns split the 35%.

New Hanover County has been helping too, but Mayor Lambeth says some commissioners don’t want to anymore.
