Kure Beach welcomes Brandon Bailey as new police chief
KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Kure beach town council held a special meeting Tuesday to swear in the town’s new police chief.
Brandon Bailey, who has served Kure Beach full time for 9 years, takes over after Michael Bowden’s retirement.
Bailey also worked in law enforcement for the town of Burgaw in Pender County. He said he never envisioned himself becoming a chief.
“I never got into law enforcement with the intention of becoming a chief, I just wanted to be a cop, but it just worked out,” Bailey said.
He was sworn in alongside family, friends, and colleagues.
Bailey says his goals include building a strong team and improving officer training and education.
“Working as a team, I’ve got a great staff behind me, I look forward to try and do anything I can to try and improve their work life. I look forward to working with the council and the mayor. I like being out in the community and talking with the citizens,” Bailey shared.
Bailey adds he is excited for his new role and is looking forward to serving Kure Beach residents.
