Lane closures in Pender Co. to last through May

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — For the next three and a half months, two roads in Pender County will have intermittent lane closures.

According to a release from the Department of Transportation the closures are both eastbound and westbound on Dan Owen Drive and Factory Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through May 28.

Crews will work to construct the new alignment connection between the two roads. Officials said one lane will remain open to traffic at all times on Factory Road.

The work is part of the original Hampstead Median Project and has been accelerated to enhance safety along US 17 between NC 210 and Factory Rd.

The NCDOT wants to remind drivers to stay alert, use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time.
