Lanes closing on Cape Fear Memorial Bridge next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –  Starting Sunday, the Department of Transportation will close lanes on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge to make repairs.

The DOT will intermittently close the east and westbound lanes to repair areas of the metal deck on the lift span of the bridge that have been damaged from changes in weather, wear and fatigue.

Crews will also inspect the remainder of the deck and make repairs as needed.

The lane closures will start at 9 p.m. Sunday and end at 5 a.m. Thursday. One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic at all times.

The DOT asks drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid possible delays.
