Laney edges Hoggard 5-4 in 8 innings

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Laney picked up a narrow 5-4 home win over Hoggard in eight innings on Tuesday to hold onto their one game lead atop the Mideastern Conference.
Down 1-0 in the 1st, the Bucs tied it up. Carston Wedemeyer’s leadoff triple did not go to waste as Jack Holliman hit into a fielder’s choice to to send his teammate home.
T.J. Ziermann also picked up an RBI in the opening frame, giving Trent Fowler a chance to cross the plate.
Tied at four in the 8th, a Vikings wild pitch resulted in a walk off victory for the Bucs.
