Laney falls three points short of state title


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Saturday night the Laney Buccaneers wrestling team competed in the 4-A state high school wrestling championships right here in Wilmington against West Forsyth High School.

Laney came out to an early lead winning both of its first two bouts in the championship against the Titans.

The lead would get up to 19-5 before West Forsyth would start to make the comeback on the Bucs.

The Titans would win their next five straight and go on to win the 4-A state high school championships 31-28.

Laney falls three points short of claiming the state title.
