Laney hires Hoggard AD Allison Jones as girls basketball coach

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A familiar face to New Hanover County schools is heading across town.

Laney has hired Hoggard Athletic Director as their new girls basketball coach. Bucs A.D. Fred Lynch announced the selection on social media on Thursday, saying Jones brings “a wealth of experience and knowledge” to Buctown.

Jones replaces Cherry Woodbury, who was let go during the season with Lynch serving as interim head coach for the remainder of it.

The Bucs went 17-10 last season with young players and only two seniors set to graduate.
