Laney picks up 5-3 home win over Hoggard

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – An unusual play to start the game opened the scoring in what resulted in a 5-3 home win for Laney on the softball diamond over Hoggard on Tuesday.

In the bottom of the 1st, Bailey Bettencourt hit a ground ball into left field to send Layla Carr home. The Vikings then committed a throwing error that saw the ball end up in right-center field. Bettencourt took advantage to score and make the lead 2-0 on a single swing.
