Laney rallies to defeat Jordan 10-8 in 4th round matchup

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – In the 4th round of the NCHSAA baseball playoffs, a trade of late rallies went Laney’s way as the hosting Bucs took down Jordan 10-8 on Friday.
A Trent Fowler sac fly and Jason Sproull hit gave the Bucs a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The Falcons rallied to make it 5-5 in the 6th. That was when Harris Magnum hit a sac fly to give the visitors their first lead. Jordan added another to lead 7-5.
In the bottom of the frame, J.B. Brooks hit a no-out triple to center field that brought home a pair of runners to tie the game. With one out and the bases loaded, Owen Gore got hit by a pitch to put Laney back in front. They would not give it back up.
The Bucs advance to the Class 4A East championship series, where they will face the winner of D.H. Conley and Corinth Holders.
