Law enforcement agencies honor fallen officers

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Area law enforcement agencies participated in a Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony this morning at the Wilmington Police Department.

The ceremony, which took place at WPD’s main headquarters, featured officers throughout the region commemorating and honoring the sacrifice of fallen officers. They gathered at the Law Enforcement Memorial Wall.

According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial 126 officers were killed in 2014. Officials say that’s a 24 percent increase from 2013.
