Lea-Hutaff Island home collapses during severe storms

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The only home standing on one of North Carolina’s last undeveloped barrier island collapsed, according to pictures posted to Facebook.

Will Bridges shared a photo of the Lea-Hutaff Island home, and it now has more than 2,ooo shares on Facebook. The Pender County island between Topsail and Figure Eight islands is only accessible by boat.

In Bridges’ post, he says debris from the fallen home could be seen in the waters where it collapsed.
