‘Lego Movie’ directors to helm Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ spinoff

NEW YORK (AP) – Laugh it up, Fuzzballs: Han Solo is getting his own movie, and it’s going to be helmed by “Lego Movie” directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

Disney announced Tuesday the “Star Wars” spinoff will be released on Memorial Day weekend in 2018. Lord and Miller have been among the most sought-after writer-directors after their well-received “21 Jump Street” and its sequel, “22 Jump Street,” and the popular “The Lego Movie.”

Miller and Lord say the movie is the first they’ve worked on that “seems like a good idea to begin with.” They promise to take “risks” and give the audience a “fresh” experience.

The script will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan.
