Leland Fire accepting donations for flood victims
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — While parts of Cape Fear are still feeling the effects of Hurricane Matthew, people are trying to do their part to help those affected.
The Leland Fire Department is accepting donations of items and supplies to send to the flooded areas like Lumberton.
Three large trucks have been filled with various things that people may take for granted, but are in need at this time.
This includes water, personal hygiene products and other various items.
Those donating say that even though they made it through the hurricane safely, doesn’t mean they can’t help.
“When I hear that children need socks and women need feminine supplies, I think about how horrible it would be without those basics. We just have to all pull together. If everyone just gives a little bit, it will make a big difference.” Leland native, Susan Maggi said.
While the fire department is no longer asking for clothes, you can still bring in other donations until Monday.
