Leland Fire/Rescue respond to campsite woods fire near Compass Pointe

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Crews with Leland Fire/Rescue and NC Forestry responded to a fire Friday morning.

The blaze was deep in the woods at a campsite near Compass Pointe E. Wynd.

Crews say several handlines were put in place and the fire was brought under control within an hour.

NC Forestry deployed a plow to prevent the fire from spreading.
