Leland man arrested for allegedly stabbing person with knife

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Leland Police Department has arrested a man in connection to an early morning stabbing.
Raymond Isaiah Shepard Jr., 23, of Leland, was arrested and charged with first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Moss Court around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a person being stabbed. Emergency crews responded along with law enforcement and say they found the victim with a stab wound to the upper torso.
The victim was transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Shepard is currently being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center under no bond.
The investigation shows the suspect and victim knew each other, according to Leland police.
