Leland man arrested on drug charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police arrested a Leland man on drug charges as well as speeding and reckless driving charges.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, police tried to pull over a vehicle on Kerr Avenue just after 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, but the vehicle sped off.
The vehicle lost control on Burnt Mill Drive, hit the curb, went across Randall Parkway, and came to a rest in the parking lot near the Flying Machine Brewing Company.
One teen was detained at the scene, while two other people in the vehicle ran onto a path behind the business.
The passenger was caught on Farmer Drive, and the driver, Deandrez Robbins, 27, was apprehended on the trail.
Officers located marijuana in the vehicle.
Robbins was charged with Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit, Careless and Reckless, Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, and Use of Cell Phone While Driving.
