Leland man charged in recent shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Leland man has been charged for his alleged role in a shooting over the weekend.

According to police,  officers responded to a fight happening at a parking lot at 7th and Nixon streets Saturday afternoon. As officers told people to go home, A man pulled a gun out and began shooting.

Officers fired at the suspect after he initially ignored their commands and he eventually dropped his weapon and surrendered. No one was shot.

Carlton McIntyre, 55, has been charged with Felony Possession of Stolen Firearm, Possession of Firearm by Felon, Discharge Firearm in Reckless Manner, Go Armed to Terror of People, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officers. He was given a $25,000 secured bond.
