Leland man shows NFC Championship ring as Super Bowl approaches

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Mel Foels of Leland says football has been his life, and he has a NFC championship ring to vouch for it.

Foels was a pro scout for the St. Louis Rams when they won the NFC Championship and played in the Super Bowl in 2002.

“We played the Eagles (in the NFC Championship) and were fortunate enough to win it and go on to the Super Bowl,” Foels said.

Though the Rams lost that Super Bowl to the New England Patriots, Foels said he still has great memories of that season.

“There’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears in that ring, and a lot of good memories; a lot of good moments and relationships,” Foels said.
