Leland Police investigating deadly shooting

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Police in Leland are investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead and two others injured.

According to the Town of Leland, officers responded around 3:30 a.m. on Friday to a home in the 100 block of Dixie Drive, located behind the Piggly Wiggly.

Police said one person was killed in the shooting. Two others were injured, including the shooter. Officials with the Town of Leland said the shooting occurred at the shooter’s home and that everyone involved knew each other.

The Town of Leland says no charges have been filed at this time and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released. WWAY will have more information as it becomes available.
