Lemonade stand helps raise money for childhood cancer

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — When life gives you lemons you make lemonade.

One neighborhood comes together every year to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer with the help of a lemonade stand.

Leland resident Krissy Voll hosted Grayson park’s give back lemonade stand this Saturday.

This was the third year the neighborhood has hosted this event.

The idea came from  Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).  A national event that fights childhood cancer on cup at a time.

All the proceeds goes into research.

This year they dedicated the fundraiser to one of their very own, a child in the neighborhood is now a cancer survivor.

“This year we are honoring Rachel Terry, one of our neighbors and we are just so grateful that they are here with us today and able to celebrate, and they really want to drive home I know she wants to drive home the fact of how important it is for childhood cancer research,” Voll said.

Voll hopes that each year they raise more money and that the event continues to grow.
