Local bar holds third annual ‘Bunny Hop’

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Sunday, the Hoplite Irish Pub raised money for rabbits, holding their third annual Bunny Hop.

Attendees raised money for Triangle Rabbits Rescue in Apex, a nonprofit dedicated to adopting out and rehabilitating injured or sick bunnies.

From one to four Sunday afternoon, men and women could enjoy live music, enter the best bunny ears competition, or enroll in a raffle for one of more than a dozen Easter baskets provided by local businesses.

“Rabbits are the third most dumped animal,” said bar manager and event organizer, Jessica Morrison. “Dogs being number, cats number two. And you’ve got to be the voice for those animals.”

Easter baskets were filled with all sorts of goodies, from clothes, to food, to gift cards, all for a good cause.
