Local charity reaches out to “Secret Santa’s” this holiday season
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As the holiday season draws near, a local charity is reaching out to those who may have a little more to give.
The Cape Fear Volunteer Center and Big Buddy Program, which support children in the Angel Tree program, are facing a shortfall this year.
The organizations collect toys and clothing for children from kindergarten through 12th grade, but they’re still missing gifts for about 100 children. With the deadline fast approaching, they are hoping for more donations by Friday.
Ashley Stewart, a volunteer with the Big Buddy Program, is encouraging anyone who can help to stop by.
“I understand that times can be tough and you may be going through a struggle, but any little thing can help. If you have a little extra and you have it in your heart to give to these children and put a smile on their face this Christmas, that would be wonderful.”
Donations can be dropped off at the front entrance of the Elks Lodge on Oleander Drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.
