Local Film Community: ‘We are not down!’

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Today members of the local film community met at the Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach to prove that they are still here and still fighting.

The group took a photo that they will be sending to lawmakers both locally and in Raleigh. They hope this shows state leaders that film workers are still fighting here in the Cape Fear and across the state.

Demonstrators said that there needs to be more of a push towards independent film making here in North Carolina, especially now that many of the larger productions have left for places like Atlanta, Georgia. Members of the film community said that they believe through smaller productions the film industry can be rebuilt in our state, all they need is support from the community.
