Local resale shop moving to Wrightsville Avenue
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After more than a decade, an iconic store in Downtown Wilmington will be moving out. A Second Time Around is a resale shop that is easy noticed walking or driving down North Front Street.
Meredith McCahan has owned the business for over 10 years and says the windows at her shop are the best in all of downtown.
“The windows have certainly become our signature of the years,” McCahan said.
She fills the windows with lights, decorations, and mannequins dressed in vintage fashion.
“We wanted to make the building and downtown proud by having really fun windows and I hope we accomplished that,” McCahan said.
After 13 years of business in downtown, A Second Time Around will be closing and moving from their well-known location.
“So many people have come by, not necessarily customers, but people who live downtown or come downtown and they just have come in to express their sorrow,” McCahan said.
She said they will be downsizing and relocating to 3518 Wrightsville Avenue.
“The new space we are going to has small windows, nothing like this, but we will try to carry on a bit of a tradition,” McCahan said.
She said they are having huge sales from now until they close on January 30, “to clear out some inventory so we don’t have to move it.”
McCahan plans reopen at the new spot in April.
“It’s very bittersweet leaving the space in general, but it certainly is leaving the windows,” McCahan said.
She says she might be leaving the windows behind, but not the memories and friendships.
“All the friends we have made have been wonderful and we thank everyone for everything,” McCahan said.
She says on January 29 there will a closing party and sale where you can fit as much clothing as you can in a bag for only 25 dollars between 6-9 pm.
