Local salvage yard hosts free power tools workshop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A workshop offered a chance for both beginners and seasoned DIY enthusiasts to learn hands-on power tool skills this past weekend at Legacy Architectural Salvage, located behind the Ace Hardware on Dawson Street.

This weekend’s session focused specifically on power tools, allowing participants to get practical experience in using them safely and efficiently.

Volunteer Louise Ramseur, explained the value of in-person instruction: “There’s YouTube videos, but having somebody in person with that knowledge, showing you how to safely use them to give you confidence is really rare.”

Richard Weisman, another volunteer, added, “Once they learn how to use the tools, they come in here, get creative, and say, ‘If I bought that piece of wood and this piece of wood, I can make a picture frame, a piece of furniture, or a decorative object.’”

The next workshop on March 22nd, “Your Home and All Its Stories,” will focus on researching the history of homes.
