Local shops take on Cyber Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Retailers like Edge of Urge and Freaker might sell their goods at regular brick and mortar shops, but they are also taking advantage of cutting some deals this Cyber Monday.

“Black Friday weekend, is as most retail businesses, our busiest weekend of the year,” said co-owner of Freaker Lauren Krakauskas.

From Black Friday through Cyber Monday many businesses are reaching out to customers with some serious deals.

“Everything you buy, if you just buy one of these you get a free pair of socks!” said Krakauskas.

“20% off all of our shoes and then we make hand stamped jewelry, necklaces, bracelets and we’re doing 20% off of those,” said Edge of Urge manager Jess Foster.

Although both businesses sell their products in shops, internet shops are equally important to their brands.

“We can reach so many more customers with our online store,” said Foster.

Social media helps reach potential customers.

“We have a big Instagram presence. So if you follow us on Instagram you can see what’s new in the store,” Foster said.

And this time of year means big shipments to fill.

“We’ve come in throughout the weekend. We came in on Friday and it’s just all hands on deck. Everybody that’s packing is not normally packing boxes but it just like brings the team together. We’re like ‘Ok we’re all in this together! Let’s do this! Yeah!'” said Krakauskas.

Both retailers said they are already seeing great numbers from Cyber Monday.
