Locals react to Election results
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tuesday night’s election results sparked a variety of reactions from Wilmington residents. We headed downtown to speak with people about how they were feeling after the results came in.
“I’m glad we won North Carolina-um cuz I like Trump personally. But I liked both of the candidates honestly. I think they both could definitely do something for us as a whole.”
“When I woke up this morning, that was the first thing I checked. My sister called me, who lives in California, and I think we both are just kind of in shock.”
“I mean I really don’t care either way who won because honestly I don’t see a change in the world—I haven’t. When he was in office or when Biden was in office or when Kamala was vice president, there’s not much of a change in the world. So honestly, in my opinion, I don’t really care for who won. I honestly just want to see a change in America.”
“I feel like there are going to be a lot of changes. I’m not sure if I’m going to be happy for them. But, um, I did what I could when I voted. It’s up to them at this point.”
Locally, there were some specific preferences. “Locally, I wish Mark Robinson was in but unfortunately I don’t think that’s what happened. Josh Stein got in,”
“I’m glad that Mark Robinson didn’t win so I feel a little bit safer with my right to marry a woman and like I want to be a teacher and that kind of scares me. Like teachers in Florida, like queer teachers.”
“I’m waiting until we are getting the election certified to really have an opinion or a reaction because right now we are still a little iffy.”
“I’m kind of happy but also, at the same time, I wanted to see what the world would look like if Kamala was in. Because we had Trump in before and I’m a Trump fan definitely, but I’d love to see if Kamala comes back.”
“I just hope that when he is in office. I hope he’ll make a change or a difference.”
