Loggerheads pick up first home win, beat Rockfish 9-7

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WWAY) — For the first time in front of their home fans, the Oak Island Loggerheads picked up a win Tuesday by beating the Hope Mills Rockfish 9-7.
The visitors put up a 3-0 lead in the 3rd, but the Loggerheads tied it up in the bottom of that frame. An error on a throw to first that would have ended the inning resulted in an RBI for Jakob Cowart. On the very next pitch, Dominick Cafferillo brought two more runners home on a hit to left field.
The Loggerheads improve to 2-3 in their inaugural season. Both wins came against the Rockfish.
