Looking for a vacation spot? Here are the destinations gaining the most buzz

(WWAY) — New research has revealed where Americans are most eager to spend their summer this year, revealing Las Vegas to be the most searched for destination.
The study, conducted by online marketplace for timeshares, SellMyTimeshareNow.com, looked at average monthly search volumes using Google Keyword Planner to determine the top worldwide locations Americans are looking to visit this summer. For example, keywords and phrases included ‘[location] hotels’, ‘[location] summer vacation’ and ‘flights to [location]’.
The study revealed that Las Vegas is the dream summer vacation this year, with an average of 1.2 million monthly searches – an incredible 151% more searches than the second most popular city. According to the latest data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, so far there have been an average of 3.52 million visitors between January and May, with this figure likely to go up over the next few months.
The city is known for its exciting attractions, such as the famous Las Vegas strip alongside sights like the Fountains of Bellagio. Alongside this, the surrounding desert is also home to many hiking trails and regions such as the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Another in-demand region, New York City, comes in second place with over 485,300 average monthly searches for flights, hotels, and vacations. The five boroughs of the region prove incredibly popular each year, with the New York City Tourism and Conventions Board reporting 62.2 million visitors in 2023, with this predicted to reach 64.5 million this year.
Visitors can find a wide variety of activities to participate in, ranging from making the trek to the top of the Empire State Building, to visiting the latest shows on Broadway or sightseeing landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty. New York City’s tourism industry has a $74 billion economic impact, proving immensely popular.
The third most popular destination is New Orleans. Louisiana’s most populated city in the state draws in around 337,600 average monthly Google searches related to visiting. Three states, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana itself, have the city as their number one destination.
Tourists here can participate in the city’s famous music and food culture. Pre-pandemic, the region welcomed over 18 million visitors, with the tourism industry making over $1 billion each year.
Ranking as fourth most popular, and the first non-US location, is England’s capital, London. London amasses over 294,600 average monthly searches, which is no surprise with the variety the city has to offer. London is home to four UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the iconic Tower of London, alongside 11 national museums to explore.
Coming next, ranking as fifth most searched is the home of the iconic Eiffel Tower, Paris. The French capital amasses 256,000 average monthly Google searches, with it appearing in 23 states’ top five destinations. Residents in Nevada and Massachusetts are most eager to visit, with both areas having the city as their second most searched for destination, the highest position it sits on the list.
