Lori Drake steps down as CFCC women’s hoops coach

Update / Saturday, June 6 – Lori Drake has accepted a job at High Point University as an assistant women’s basketball coach. Story from June 2 is posted below.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College started their women’s basketball program a few years ago. Lori Drake is the only head coach in the history of the program, but Drake has decided to step down. June 1 was Drake’s last day at CFCC. She turned the program into a winner almost overnight building the program from its infancy.

On the Cape Fear Community College website the head coach’s position is listed as “TBA”. We understand the school hopes to have a new coach in place fairly soon.

Lori Drake is a graduate of UNCW. She led the UNCW women’s basketball team in scoring and rebounding her senior season.
