Lovin’ It: McDonald’s header the difference as Ashley tops J.H. Rose 1-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — It took more than 60 minutes of regulation, but Ashley boys soccer managed to pitch a shutout with a 1-0 win at home on Tuesday.
With around 18 minutes to go, the Eagles threw the ball in. After which, Bodey Porter managed to settle it down. After crossing a pass off the shoulder of a defender, the ball hopped off the grass and onto the head of Isaiah McDonald, who then rainbowed it into the back of the net to break the ice.
“You got to be in the right position at the right time,” McDonald said. “Right there, I was trying to look for the goal. I didn’t expect the goal, but I got the goal. Our coach was just trying to keep us in the game. Trying to push us. Trying to keep us there. As a team coming into the second half, we built each other up. We knew the score was 0-0 but we knew the game was our’s. So we tried to come in there and win it.”
