Lynn Swann, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, to attend Willie Stargell Celebrity Invitational

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Lynn Swann will be one of the new celebrities attending the 23rd annual Willie Stargell Celebrity Invitational November 7-9 at the Country Club of Landfall.
“Willie Stargell has always been an All-Star on and off the Diamond,” Swann said. “He set examples of how to conduct yourself 24-7. As a young athlete, trying to transition to Pittsburgh and Pro Sports, Willie provided a positive path to follow.”
Swann is one of several new celebrities coming to the three-day event. Fred McGriff, a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame is also coming to Wilmington.
They will join returning celebrities including NBA great Travis Best, NFL star Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former professional tennis player Katrina Adams and MLB standout Steve Lyons.
Close to 50 celebrities will attend the invitational that raises money to help local people living with kidney disease. Stargell died from kidney failure in 2001. A year later, his widow, Margaret Stargell created the Willie Stargell Foundation.
