Man accused of stealing Habitat for Humanity van
LELAND, NC (WWAY) –Investigators with the Leland Police Department said a man is facing charges in connection with a break-in and vehicle theft at the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
The break-in happened Tuesday. Police say the store’s van, along with $750, was taken from the organization. The stolen van was found in Southport.
Police said Steven Spell Jr. is facing charges including breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle. They say Spell Jr. was a volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity Restore at the time that the incident occurred.
Investigator have been unable to recover the stolen money that would have been used to assist families in need.
