WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing charges after deputies say he threatened to “shoot up” a recovery facility Tuesday evening.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Jerry Heath, 38, was charged with communicating threats after an incident at The Healing Place.

Deputies say Heath went to the facility on Tuesday and threatened to shoot up the building. Authorities say he left the location before deputies arrived.

He was later arrested on Front Street, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to court documents, Heath has been convicted of three or more misdemeanor or higher-level offenses in separate court sessions within the past 10 years. A judicial official also noted Heath has a significant and recent history of violent convictions, including communicating threats and assault.

As part of his conditions of release, Heath is ordered to have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from entering the premises involved in the case while the matter is pending.

He is being held under a $2,000 secured bond.

Heath is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
