WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing two Wilmington businesses.

Police say they responded around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to a gas station at 901 S. 3rd Street for an armed robbery. They say the suspect entered the store, approached the clerk, and implied he had a gun in his pocket.

After he took cigarettes and cash, he left on a bike traveling southbound on S. 3rd Street, according to police.

Police say later the same date, shortly after 5:30 p.m., a person matching the description of the same suspect entered the Easy Vape and Tobacco store at 1929 Oleander Drive. They say the suspect forced employees to go into a back room of the business. The suspect also implied he had a gun during this incident. The man left the store with merchandise and some money.

Steven Lavern Nixon, 42, was later arrested and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, First Degree Kidnapping, Felony Larceny, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct Public Officers.
