Man behind bars and facing child exploitation charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One man is behind bars and facing several charges related to sexual exploitation of a minor.

This came after an extensive investigation by the WPD Criminal Investigation Division Special Victims Unit.

According to the WPD, Jesus Alberto Valente-Hernandez, 26, was taken into custody on Saturday, April 26th, after being found to be in possession of child pornography.

He has been charged with ten counts of 2nd Degree Child Exploitation and ten counts of 3rd Degree Child Exploitation.

Wilmington police is also working with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Homeland Security on this case, with additional charges expected in the future.

Valente-Hernandez is currently being held at the NHSO Detention Center under a $60,000 secured bond.
