Man charged after 18-year-old dies from drinking at party

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) – Beaufort County deputies say they have charged a 25-year-old man with involuntary manslaughter after he bought beer for a party where a teen drank too much and died.

Investigators said in a news release Friday that they arrested Trong Duc Le after the coroner’s office received the autopsy report in 18-year-old William Thompson’s April 10th death.

Authorities say Thompson was found unconscious after the party and died a short time later.

Deputies say Le bought Thompson and other teens beer and alcohol.

Authorities say Le turned himself in Friday. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
