Man charged after allegedly hitting 8-year-old pedestrian

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man has been charged after allegedly hitting an 8-year-old pedestrian.

Highway Patrol says the crash took place on April 14th around 10:46 p.m. on Gordon Road in New Hanover County.

The pedestrian was transported to Novant Hospital with critical injuries.

Troopers located the driver and the vehicle they say was involved in a nearby apartment complex.

Joseph Chamberlain, 45, was arrested and charged with Felony Hit & Run Causing Serious Injury, Driving While Impaired, and Open Container of Alcohol in Passenger Area.
