Man charged with allegedly starting Sunset Road Fire in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Forest service says a man has been charged with allegedly starting the wildfire that has burned over 1300 acres in Brunswick County.
The forest service said that the cause of the wildfire has been determined to be a debris burn that occurred on private property on April 25th, by Bobby Max Lowery, 48.
He was cited and charged with North Carolina General Statute 14-140.1.
The fire is now 83% contained and has burned 1,331 acres in the Boiling Spring Lakes area.
