Man charged with trafficking methamphetamine after traffic stop for fictitious license plate

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine after being stopped for a fictitious license plate by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

A driver was pulled over on I-40 Wednesday evening around 9:00 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office says Christian Cortes was driving without a license. When K9 deputies searched the vehicle, they located approximately 1,000 grams of methamphetamine, according to the Sheriff’s Office. 

Cortes was charged and is currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond.
