Man ‘driving erratically’ arrested pantless during traffic stop

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County man was caught with his pants down, literally. It happened during a traffic stop Thursday in Chadbourn.

The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says a detective saw a man driving erratically while leaving a known drug area.

The detective stopped the car and approached the driver 68-year-old James Eldred Buffkin. He was not wearing pants.

Investigators say they found 30 oxycodone pills in the car.

Buffkin was just arrested in December on drug charges and is on probation.

He now faces new charges.
