Man accused of burning 5-year-old’s hand on stove

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have charged a man in connection with a child abuse investigation dating back a few months.

Police said John Lee Stevenson Jr., 27, was arrested yesterday and charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. He’s in jail under a $50,000 bond.

Police said Stevenson intentionally burned a five-year-old child’s left hand on a stove in April. They said the child is still recovering from those burns.
