Man found guilty of statutory sex offense with a child in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man has been found guilty of statutory sex offense with a child in Brunswick County.

Jose Luis Roman Martinez was found guilty of three counts of Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a Child and three counts of Felony Sexual Activity by a substitute parent/custodian, and four counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child at the conclusion of a jury trial in Brunswick County Superior Court on October 31st.

Martinez was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Joshua Willey to at least 25 years (300-420 months) in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

The victim reported that while her mother was at work, Roman Martinez would molest her. She stated Roman Martinez told her that if she told her mother, she wouldn’t believe her.
