Man has issues voting under own name
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — When Jeff Fox went to vote this afternoon at Wrightsboro Elementary, workers there told him he had already voted.
Fox says the precinct supervisor told him that even though he said he didn’t vote, there was more than one person with his first and last name and that they must have used his name and address during early voting.
“Here’s a perfect example of why you should have to show your ID,” Fox said. “It absolutely blows my mind. It’s exactly what I told them the same thing, you can come in here and vote and not show any ID.”
Fox was given a provisional ballot that he said may or may not actually be counted for the election.
He will have ten days to call back and check.
The Supreme Court struck down a law that would require showing identification after civil rights groups showed it was aimed at reducing turnout, particularly among minorities.
