Man in custody in Wilmington on drug, firearm charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a man on drug and firearm charges.
On Monday, June 24 around 11:45 p.m., Housing Task Force members observed three individuals loitering in the 600 block of Emory Street.
Officers approached the subjects who quickly left and ignored commands to stop.
As officers were talking with two of the suspects, another man – 19-year-old Damien Kinlaw – allegedly threw a gun near a garbage can.
Officers found narcotics while searching Kinlaw; following an initial investigation, it was determined that the firearm was stolen.
Kinlaw has been charged with Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Carrying Concealed Weapon-Gun, and Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
He is currently being held at the NHCSO Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
